Hey everyone!
If youāre anything like me, you loveĀ finding ways to keep your dog entertained, happy, and mentally stimulated other than just a walk. Enrichment isnāt just about spoiling your pup (although weāre totally here for that) ā itās about meeting their natural needs and instincts in a fun and fulfilling way.
So here are 5 enrichment ideasĀ that are super easy, affordable, and guaranteed to earn you that big tail wag.
1. Snuffle Balls: Let That Nose Work! šš¾
Dogs loveĀ sniffing ā itās their superpower! A snuffle ball taps into that natural foraging instinct, turning treat-time into an adventure. Just hide a few dry treats or kibble pieces in the fleece layers and watch your dog go to town.
š§ Fun fact:Ā According to animal behaviour experts, 15 minutes of sniffing is as tiring as an hour-long walk!
2. Lick Mats: Calm the Chaos š§¼š¾
Perfect for bath time, nail trimming, or just to slow your dog down after zoomies. Smear on some peanut butter, Greek yogurt, or canned food, and let them get to work. Licking releases endorphins = natural calming vibes.
š Shop our silicone lick matsĀ ā dishwasher safe, durable, and Juno-approved!
š” Pro tip:Ā Freeze it for a longer-lasting challenge (and some peace and quiet).
3. Toilet Roll Treat Puzzle: Budget-Friendly Brilliance ā»ļø
One of my fave DIY enrichment games! I made a whole video about it over on Tiktok ā it's so easy, all you need is a toilet roll, a few treats, and a dog with a detectiveās nose.
Just fold the ends of the roll closed with treats inside, and let your pup figure it out. Bonus: it's great for recycling!
4. Slow Feeders = Happy Tummies šš½ļø
If your dog hoovers their food like itās a race (Oggie Ā š), a slow feeder is a must. Slowing down their eating helps with digestion, reduces bloating, and adds an extra layer of mental challenge.

5. Scatter Feeding: The OG Sniff Game šæāØ
Sometimes, the best enrichment is the simplest! Just grab a handful of kibble or treats and scatter them in the grass, around the backyard, or even inside your house. It mimics natural hunting behaviour and slows things down (in the best way).
š When I told my trainer that Juno kept flipping his slow feeder or shaking out his snuffle ball, she laughed and said, āWell⦠sounds like heās invented his own scatter feeding game!ā It wasnāt the activity I planned, but it was still mentally enriching ā and thatās what matters!
Whether youāve got a high-energy pup like Juno or just looking to fulfil your little one's day, enrichment is an easy way to boost their happiness and well-being.
